The Faculty of Social Sciences at Uppsala University offers a broad range of courses taught in English. This information includes the Faculty´s courses in economic sciences as well as courses on Swedish culture and society and the Swedish language provided by other faculties or divisions at the university.
Students from 64 cooperating universities and business schools in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan and the United States are partners in the international student mobility programme in business and economics at Uppsala, organized by the Department of Business Studies on the basis of mutual student exchange agreements. Business students from Uppsala University study abroad for one semester at a partner university in one of these countries within the framework of the mutual exchange agreements, and on the same basis, students from the universities and business schools abroad spend one or two semesters at Uppsala. The agreements with most of the European partners are integrated in the Socrates programme, and the exchange with universities overseas is based on bilateral agreements.
Swedish students participate in some of the courses taught in English at Uppsala as a part of their own regular studies. The programme in business studies includes courses in international business, marketing, organization, corporate finance, financial accounting and management accounting. Within the framework of the programme, English courses in economics, economic history, social and economic geography and statistics are given by other departments within the Faculty of Social Sciences. Courses on Swedish culture and society are available for non-Scandinavian students.
Exchange students admitted to Uppsala University on the basis of agreements concluded by the Dept. of Business Studies at Uppsala University are expected to make their choice of courses from the options described on this web site. The courses are organised in packages of two 7.5 credits courses, which are offered parallel in periods 1-2 and 3-4 (the whole semester consists of 4 periods). The optional basic Swedish language course can be taken in addition to the programme during one semester.
The exchange students are integrated in the active social life at Uppsala University through a buddy system and the Swedish language programme, which at the end of the semester gives a working knowledge of Swedish for everyday communication.
