Before the arrival

Before you arrive at your exchange semester at the Department of Business Studies, there are a few things you need to know.

Acceptance letter

An acceptance letter will be issued once the evaluation and course allocation process has been concluded. You will also receive other useful information from the department.

Visa

Citizens of a country outside of EU/EES will need to obtain a Visa. In order to apply for a visa you will need your Acceptance Letter as well as proof that you can support yourself financially during your stay in Sweden. For more information see the Swedish Migration Board's website. Visa application must be done in due time at the nearest Embassy, no arrangement of Visas is done by the Department of Business Studies.

Healthcare insurance

All students coming to Sweden must be covered by a valid medical insurance. EU citizens are covered automatically if they bring the European Health Insurance Card, please make sure to apply for it before you arrive in Sweden. Incoming exchange students are also insured by Student In by Kammarkollegiet. This insurance policy covers necessary and reasonable costs for emergency medical care, accidental injury and assault, disability and death, liability and legal expenses. This insurance does however not offer complete insurance coverage. Note that the insurance only cover travels to, from and within Sweden.

Buddy System

Together with the EBA Student Association, Uppsalaekonomerna we offer a Buddy Programme. If you choose to participate you will be contacted by a buddy before your arrival. The buddy will help you settle in to your new life in Uppsala. Buddy System also organises events for exchange students.

Orientation week

Each semester there is an Orientation Programme for new international students organised by Uppsala University along with the student nations. The Programme consists of a range of activities, both practical and social, to help you get acquainted with Uppsala University, the city of Uppsala and of course each other.
